About Boston Jazz Quartet
Boston Jazz Quartet is the result of merging two highly regarded, critically acclaimed jazz groups from New England - The Brant Grieshaber Trio and The Daniel Bennett Group. The musicians in Boston Jazz Quartet have performed extensively with the likes of Branford Marsalis, Bill Frisell, James Carter, the Maine Music Society, Charlie Hunter, and many others in addition to entertaining at weddings, conventions, and other private functions throughout the Eastern US.
About the Musicians
(Mouse over a photo for more information.)| Saxophonist Rick Stone has performed and recorded with musicians and groups such as the Either/Orchestra, the Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra, the Quartet of Happiness, the Beantown Swing Orchestra, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, John Tchicai, Robin Eubanks, and several others.
Rick has taught Jazz Ear Training and saxophone at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and currently teaches saxophone and ensembles at the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School. He also teaches music classes/lessons at other public schools in the Boston area while maintaining a busy performance schedule with various groups around the northeast. |
Brant Grieshaber - guitars
| A consummate band leader, soloist, and sideman, Brant Grieshaber performs all over New England, from the Maine Music Society to the Beantown Swing Orchestra, from Johnny D’s to The Good Life. He's shared the stage with jazz giants such as Bill Frisell (Grammy nominee), James Carter, and Charlie Hunter and he often performs and records with faculty from Berklee College of Music. He also teaches guitar and composition at his studio in Boston, where students come from across the globe to explore the fingerboard. Brant is an artist endorser for Godin Guitars and JazzKat Amplifiers. At the age of 8, Brant began classical and ragtime piano, studying with Bates College professor Dr. Marion Anderson. At 13, Brant took up jazz and rock guitar. He earned his BA at Berklee College of Music, studying with Garrison Fewell and Bret Wilmott. At the Boston Conservatory, he did graduate studies in classical composition with Osvaldo Golijov. He has also studied guitar with the jazz/fusion giant, Frank Gambale. |
Jason Davis - acoustic bass
| Jason Davis has been playing bass and guitar for 16 years in various formats: jazz, classical, theater, world music and pop. He has studied at jazz at Berklee College of Music and McGill University and classical double bass at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Jason leads the world music/jazz/environmental sound ensemble Earthsound and also plays with the Daniel Bennett Group, Choro Democratico and many other music projects around Boston. He is an avid student of Brazilian music and also plays the 7-string guitar, which is an important instrument in samba and choro. |
Jared Seabrook - drums
| Jared Seabrook is a drummer who lives in the Boston area. A MA native, Jared spent 10 years studying with Bob Gullotti, as well as benefiting from an extraordinary public school music program. He grew up playing jazz, punk, and rock + roll; he has since performed and toured both around the country and internationally with jazz, metal, americana, and fusion bands from the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland to the Fuddrucker's Annual Pickle Telethon. The New York Times has described Jared's playing as "vicious", but he's a pretty nice guy. |
